Hendrix and Pink Floyd

It's late on a thursday night. I've been out of work for a few hours and I've been passing the time by listening to songs by Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. I actually just learned of a new Hendrix song "If 6 Were 9", and the first 1:30 might be my favorite opening minute and thirty seconds of any song I've ever heard. The first set of lyrics are as follows:
If the sun refused to shine,
I don't mind, I don't mind.
(Yeah)
If the mountains fell in the sea,
Let it be, it ain't me.
Got my own world to live through
And I ain't gonna copy you.

Amazing. Do yourself a favor and listen to it, because my words can't do it justice.

Unfortunately, I feel like we've lost the spirit that defined the 60's. There were negatives, obviously, that went along with free love, copious drug use, and carefree living, but the ideology behind it all was the best part of the decade. The ideology of living your own life, loving it for what it is, and loving that you get to live it. What sucks the most is that my generation is furthering the decline of the great music that came out of the decade, and the great philosophies that originated from it. We are so plugged in, so immersed in all the aspects of the digital world that we forget to, or worse don't even want to stop and look around and say "God Damn I am lucky to live in this world, and I thank God every day I get to experience life." I hope we get back there
